The West Virginia Beef Industry Council (WVBIC) and the West Virginia Cattlemen’s Association (WVCA) are searching for a Beef Industry Program Specialist. This position will be hired through WV Farm Bureau, but sole purpose will be leading the WVBIC and WVCA. The successful candidate must possess outstanding organizational skills, be detail oriented, be able to communicate clearly with all stakeholder groups, and be able articulate and execute our shared vision for the West Virginia beef industry.
*These hours will vary according to events, travel, and responsibilities to the beef council and association. Occasional weekends and travel (statewide and nationwide) are required.

The Beef Program Specialist shall plan, direct and execute all activities of the West Virginia Beef Industry Council (WVBIC) and the West Virginia Cattlemen’s Association (WVCA) per direction and guidance of the boards. The Specialist will be a WV Farm Bureau employee and have limited administrative support from WVFB office, but responsibilities will be focused on WVBIC and WVCA. The Specialist shall prepare an annual budget in conjunction with appropriate parties and monitor expenditures to ensure expenses do not exceed income for both the WVBIC and WVCA. The Specialist shall communicate with appropriate individuals, members, committees, organizations and media to promote and protect the beef industry, and will serve as the most prominent voice for West Virginia’s beef industry.
The Program Specialist shall work with the Cattlemen’s Beef Board, as a qualified state beef council, following all guidelines to ensure the collection of checkoff funds as outlined by the Beef Promotion and Research Act of 1985. Shall work with the appropriate staff of the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA) as a state affiliate and through the Federation of State Beef Councils. Shall prepare marketing plans and annual reports, records, reports, membership marketing materials, and other related documents as required and requested by the WVBIC and WVCA. Shall provide regular communications with stakeholders, including checkoff remitters and WVCA members.
